Zhilinsky Marat Gennadievich was born in 1976 in the village of Ukhvala, Krupki District, Minsk Region. Belarusian. Higher education. In 1998, he graduated from the educational institution “Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after Maxim Tank” with a degree in “History and Socio-Political Disciplines.”

After graduating from the university, he studied in postgraduate studies. Since 2001, he worked as an assistant, senior lecturer, associate professor at the Department of National and World History, and deputy dean of the Faculty of Folk Culture of the Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after M. Tank. From January 2006 to June 2011 – Scientific Secretary, and from June 2011 to October 2012 – Deputy Director for Research of the State Scientific Institution “Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.”

Candidate of Historical Sciences (2002), Associate Professor in the speciality “History” (2006). Laureate of the Special Fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus for the Support of Talented Youth (2005).

Since 2012 – Deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, Deputy Chairman of the Standing Commission of the House of Representatives on Education, Culture and Science.

In 2014, he headed the Minsk City Election Commission for the election of deputies of the Minsk City Council of Deputies of the twenty-seventh convocation. Member of the republican public association “Belaya Rus.”

Since 2014 – Rector of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Belarus, since 2018 – Rector of the state educational institution “Institute for the Training of Scientific Personnel of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus,” since 2022 – Rector of the state educational institution “University of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.”

Scientific interests in the field of history of the Second World War and the Great Patriotic War. Author of more than 150 scientific publications, including 11 monographs (of which 10 in co-authorship), 4 collections of documents, 8 textbooks and teaching aids (in co-authorship), 4 historical atlases dedicated to the Great Patriotic War (in co-authorship), 100 scientific publications. Among them: “The Great Patriotic War of the Soviet People (in the context of the Second World War).” Textbook for the 11th grade of institutions providing general secondary education, with Russian and Belarusian languages of instruction (2004, 2020, 2022, 2024); “The Great Patriotic War of the Soviet People (in the context of the Second World War).” Textbook for students of institutions providing higher education (2004).

He took part in the work of the author’s team on the preparation of the fundamental scientific work “History of Belarusian Statehood” in 5 volumes (2018-2019). He took part in the work on the textbook “History of the Great Patriotic War. Essays on Joint History,” prepared jointly with Russian scientists (2020).
