Persons entering graduate school must have:
- higher education;
- aptitude for scientific research, which is confirmed by scientific publications, participation in research and innovation projects, conferences or other materials;
- recommendation of the academic council (council) of a higher education institution or faculty of this institution (for applicants in the year of graduation from this institution) or experience practical work for at least two years in positions requiring higher education.
Applicants to graduate school for obtaining the scientific qualification ”Researcher“ in full-time or part-time education must pass candidate exams and tests in general education disciplines before entering graduate school.
Practical work experience of at least two years in positions requiring higher education is mandatory for those entering graduate school to study by correspondence and in the form of a job application.
Admission to graduate school is allowed for persons whose specialty of higher education does not correspond to the branch of science in which their postgraduate studies are planned. In the course of training, these persons must also pass an exam in the scope of the general education program of a higher education institution in a specialty (specialization) that coincides with the specialty in graduate school or close to it.
Persons entering graduate school for full-time or part-time education, take an entrance exam in a special discipline in the scope of the curriculum of the first stage of higher education. In order to obtain postgraduate education in the form of a job application, passing an entrance exam is not required.
Laureates of the special fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus for the social support of gifted students and students, or laureates of the special fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus for the support of talented youth, or laureates of republican and international competitions of scientific papers in disciplines corresponding to the profile of the chosen specialty are exempt from passing the entrance exam in a special discipline with a score of ”ten“.
Admission of persons for postgraduate studies in scientific organizations of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, at the expense of the republican budget, is carried out in accordance with the plan approved by the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, on a competitive basis, as well as at the expense of extra-budgetary funds of individuals and (or) legal entities in the following specialties: (see the admission plan). The number of places in graduate school for training at the expense of the republican budget for specific specialties is formed at the request of organizations in need of personnel of the highest scientific qualification. The graduate student, the Customer (the organization that submitted the application) and the Contractor (the scientific organization that provides training) conclude an agreement that defines the obligations of the parties.
Persons who have previously completed a full course of postgraduate studies do not enjoy the right to re-enroll in postgraduate studies at the expense of budgetary funds. Their training is carried out on a paid basis. The amount of payment is established in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Belarus.
Persons entering graduate school submit an application addressed to the head of the scientific organization, to which documents are attached in accordance with the list determined by the Ministry of Education.
The admissions committee reviews the submitted documents, conducts an interview with the applicant for postgraduate studies and gives an opinion in the form of an extract from the minutes of the meeting, which characterizes the scientific level of published works (scientific abstract), the applicant’s inclination to research work, it also contains a proposal for admission to participate in the competition and the entrance exam (when applying for full-time or part-time study) or a conclusion on the relevance of the topic and admission to participate in the competition (when applying for training in the form of an application), a recommendation is made on the candidates of prospective scientific supervisors.
Upon admission to graduate school for study in the form of an application, applicants within the time limits established by the scientific organization speak at a meeting of the scientific seminar of the laboratory (department) with the presentation of the topic of the dissertation (its relevance), the quality and volume of independently performed research by this person on the topic of the prepared dissertation and submit an extract from the test and examination sheet attached to the diploma of higher education education. Based on the results of the presentation at the scientific seminar, the structural unit prepares an appropriate conclusion, which the applicant submits to the admissions committee. The decision on the enrollment of persons for training in the form of an application is made by the admissions committee on the basis of the submitted conclusion.
Persons who have successfully passed the interview, by the decision of the admissions committee on the basis of the submitted documents, are allowed to participate in the competition and the entrance exam (when applying for full-time or part-time study) or to participate in the competition (when applying for training in the form of an application).
When enrolling in graduate school, the admissions committee takes into account:
- the results of the entrance exam in a special discipline;
- the grades obtained during the candidate exams and credits in general education disciplines;
- the applicant has scientific achievements, an assessment for the abstract. For applicants to graduate school in the form of an application – the presence of a positive conclusion of the meeting of the scientific seminar on the relevance of the topic, the quality and volume of research independently performed by this person on the topic of the dissertation being prepared, taking into account the grades in the extract from the test and examination sheet attached to the diploma of higher education.
When evaluating scientific achievements, only those scientific works that correspond to the intended topic of the dissertation research are taken into account.
Persons (in order of priority) have a preferential right to enroll in postgraduate studies with the same scores based on the results of entrance exams:
– recognized as laureates of the special fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus for the social support of gifted students, or laureates of the special fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus for the support of talented youth, or laureates of national and international competitions of scientific papers in disciplines corresponding to the profile of the chosen specialty;
- who have scientific publications on the profile of their chosen specialty in scientific publications included in the list of publications and (or) in foreign scientific publications;
- who have received a higher assessment by the admissions committee of scientific works published in publications not included in the list of publications, scientific abstract;
- who are the authors of the works of the first category of the Republican contest of scientific works of students;
- who scored a higher amount of points on passed candidate exams and credit in general education disciplines;
- having at least two years of practical work experience in the profile corresponding to the branch of sciences (group of specialties) in which postgraduate studies will be conducted;
- who have received a diploma of higher education with honors;
- who have made presentations at conferences.
Persons who have successfully passed the entrance exam in a special discipline, but have not passed the competition for budget places, on the basis of the decision of the admissions committee, can be enrolled in graduate school to study on a fee-based basis, about which a contract of the established sample is drawn up. Based on the results of the entrance exam in the specialty, taking into account the estimates of the candidate’s minimum in general education disciplines, the assessment of the scientific achievements of the applicant, the corresponding conclusion of the scientific seminar of the laboratory, the admissions committee decides on admission to graduate school.
Persons who did not show up for the exam without valid reasons are not allowed to take the missed exam.
The term of obtaining postgraduate education of the first stage (postgraduate study) is:
- in the full–time form of education – no more than three years;
- in the correspondence form of education – no more than four years;
- in the form of an application – no more than five years.
Full-time postgraduate students are paid a scholarship at the expense of the republican budget.
Acceptance of citizens’ documents for admission to graduate school is carried out from August 01 to September 30 .
Admission of entrance exams in special disciplines – from 06 to 11 October 2022.
Conclusion of contracts for the training of highly qualified scientists – until November 01.
Admission to graduate school – November 01.

Citizens entering graduate school submit the following documents to the admissions committee of a scientific organization:
- Application addressed to the head of the scientific organization.
