About the University

In the early 1990s, the Training Center for Scientific Personnel was established under the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences of Belarus, which brought together the departments of philosophy, foreign languages, computer science, and computer engineering. Since 2001, these departments have become part of the state educational institution “Institute for the Training of Scientific Personnel of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.”

The state educational institution “Institute for the Training of Scientific Personnel of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus” was established by Order No. 1 of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus dated December 5, 2001.

By Resolution No. 97 of the Bureau of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus dated February 20, 2004, the institution was renamed the state educational institution “Institute for the Training of Scientific Personnel of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.”

With the support of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus, by Resolution No. 31 of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus dated July 15, 2022, the type and name of the Institute for the Training of Scientific Personnel were changed to the state educational institution “University of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.”

To date, the University provides higher education of the second stage (Master’s degree), additional education for adults, advanced training, and also coordinates and carries out scientific and methodological support for the training of highly qualified scientific personnel in the system of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

The University of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus is a synthesis of research activities in priority areas of scientific research and the educational process, constructed through modern educational technologies.

The mission of the University is to form a national intellectual elite capable of ensuring the creation of an innovative economy and a society based on knowledge and the latest achievements of science and technology.

Over the years of its activity, the institution has trained and graduated more than 3,000 Master’s students in 17 specialities.

State accreditation of the University for compliance with the declared type – “University” – was conducted in 2023 (certificate No. 0013272 was issued on the basis of order of the Department of Quality Control of Education of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus dated March 9, 2023 No. 218-i, valid until March 9, 2028). Also, in 2023 and 2024, the procedure of state accreditation of specialities in which training is conducted in the Master’s program was completed.

In 2025, the University implemented the educational program of advanced higher education (Master’s degree) on the basis of special permit (license) for the right to carry out educational activities No. 02100/462, issued on the basis of decision of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus dated April 30, 2004 No. 638 (as amended on March 20, 2024 No. 119).

In 2024, the University passed state accreditation in 2 specialities. Certificate No. 0002000 was received, issued on the basis of order of the Department of Quality Control of Education of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus dated June 28, 2024 No. 210-i.

The activities of the state educational institution “University of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus” (hereinafter – the University) are aimed at integrating the scientific potential of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (hereinafter – the NAS of Belarus) and the educational process in accordance with the demands of the real sector of the country’s economy.

The purpose of the University is to carry out educational activities in the implementation of educational programs in accordance with the received permit (license).

The main areas of scientific and scientific-technical activity of the University are: scientific and methodological support of the educational process; scientifically based development of models for training Masters; development of socio-cultural and theoretical-methodological foundations for the training and professional development of a modern scientist-specialist with a high methodological culture, capable of freely navigating the international cultural information and communication space; scientific development of issues of pedagogy of intellectual leadership and the problem of continuity in the system of training gifted youth oriented towards the scientific field.

The training of Masters at the University is based on competency-based, practice-oriented, and modular approaches to the organization of the educational process, which contribute to the effective implementation of educational goals and increase the competitiveness of graduates.

The University provides training of Masters in the most in-demand specialities, taking into account the needs of scientific organizations, as well as in accordance with the current and future requirements of the national labor market and global trends in economic and scientific-technical development. Currently, training of personnel with advanced higher education is carried out in 16 Master’s specialities:
