A Round Table “Dialogue of Generations – Dialogue of Cultures” was Held at the University of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
On June 25, 2026, a round table “Dialogue of Generations – Dialogue of Cultures” was held at the University of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The meeting brought together representatives of the leadership of the higher education institution, heads of graduating departments, and Master’s students from the People’s Republic of China. The main topic of discussion was substantive academic interaction: the acquisition of new scientific knowledge by young researchers, mastering strict methodology, and developing practical skills within the walls of the academic university.
Opening the event, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Dmitry Mazarchuk emphasized that the key task of the University is to provide foreign students with full access to the unique research potential of the institutes of the Academy of Sciences. Therefore, the approaches adopted at the University of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus to the construction of the educational program emphasize the unity of scientific standards, rigorous research requirements, and professional growth. The Head of the Department of Biological and Economic Disciplines Alexander Dashkevich noted that the Master’s students from China enrolled in the spring demonstrate high motivation for learning.
The discussion was attended by representatives of two different tracks of study: Master’s students in the speciality “Jurisprudence,” who entered the University of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus this spring and are just beginning their journey in academic science, as well as Master’s students in Art History, completing an intensive one-year course of study.
The Master’s students in Law confirmed that the initial stage of study fully met their expectations due to the high level of academic standards. For example, Master’s student in the speciality “Jurisprudence” Yuan Yuan noted: “Here, the teaching staff purposefully develops critical academic thinking in us, which significantly enhances the ability to analyze complex international legal issues from a global perspective.”
Master’s student in the speciality “Jurisprudence” Li Guoren drew attention to the unique status of the teaching staff of the University of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus: “Lectures by renowned experts invited by the university open up completely new horizons in jurisprudence for us and help lay a solid foundation for future research.”
A special place within the round table was occupied by a kind of informal summing up of the results of the work of Master’s graduates in the speciality “Art History.” The Head of the graduating Department of Social and Humanitarian Disciplines Natalia Serzhant emphasized that over the course of one year, the Chinese Master’s students carried out enormous analytical work, preparing in-depth dissertation research at the intersection of national traditions and modern approaches in art history.
Master’s student in the speciality “Art History” Liao Junlin shared his experience of intensive study: “The University of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus very closely combines academic theory with real artistic practice. For us students, the preparation of a clear and targeted research plan was of decisive importance. The teachers delved deeply into our topics – for example, we discussed in detail the specifics of Chinese instrumental music, which brought me valuable cross-cultural inspiration that is difficult to obtain at other universities.”
Master’s student in the speciality “Art History” Ye Ziyu also added that the research-oriented style of study at the University of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and its rich academic resources allowed her to effectively cope with complex scientific tasks when writing her final work within the short timeframe of a one-year Master’s program.
Summing up the results of the round table, the participants came to the general conclusion that “Dialogue of Generations – Dialogue of Cultures” at the University of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus is, above all, a dialogue of professionals. The University’s educational programs are aimed primarily at developing research competencies. The knowledge gained will allow graduates to confidently continue their careers in science, and in this regard, some of the Chinese Master’s students expressed their intention to apply to the academic postgraduate program of the scientific organizations of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus in the future.
