“MODERN APPROACHES TO REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT: FROM ECONOMY TO SOCIAL INFRASTRUCTURE”

On March 19, 2026, the Educational Institution “University of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus” held a Unified Information Day. The main topic for discussion was: “MODERN APPROACHES TO REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT: FROM ECONOMY TO SOCIAL INFRASTRUCTURE”.
In his report, the Vice-Rector for Academic and Methodological Work, Egor Vladimirovich Gusakov, emphasised that in the annual Address of the President of the Republic of Belarus, around which we usually build our understanding of the country’s future – from the economy and food security to the preservation of human potential and national identity – the Head of State, Alexander Grigoryevich Lukashenko, noted: “My task is to save the village, so that these are not empty crooked huts. So that people live there, wherever possible… because the village is the foundation, the foundation of our life. Without the village, we will perish; the state cannot exist without it.”
In addition, the Vice-Rector’s report noted that a significant contribution to regional development is made by the initiative of the Head of State A.G. Lukashenko “One District – One Project”, aimed at enhancing investment activity and strengthening the economies of the regions.
Summarising, Egor Vladimirovich noted that the prospects for the development of every corner of native Belarus determine how strong and prosperous our state will be, how successfully it will be able to cope with modern challenges and threats, and how confident Belarusian citizens will be in tomorrow.
“Strong regions are the main priority. All areas of the economy mentioned above must be placed at the basis of the new regional policy. In every region and district, we shift the centre of gravity there, all forces and resources. The most important task is to stop the outflow of people from the regions, to relieve the capital and regional centres,” emphasised the President of the Republic of Belarus A.G. Lukashenko on December 18, 2025.
