Day of People’s Unity

Day of People’s Unity (Dzen’ narodnaga adzinstva) is a state holiday in Belarus, celebrated annually on September 17. It was established on June 7, 2021, by Decree No. 206 of the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko. The holiday is timed to coincide with the anniversary of the Polish campaign of the Red Army, which began on September 17, 1939, as a result of which, in particular, Western Belarus was annexed to the Belarusian SSR.
