Excursion of Master’s students of the University of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus to the Yakub Kolas Central Scientific Library

Traditionally, at the beginning of each academic year, the University of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus creates conditions for newly enrolled students to become familiar with the tools for searching scientific information. For this purpose, on September 14, a group of first-year Master’s students of the University visited the Yakub Kolas Central Scientific Library of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The library possesses the largest collection of foreign scientific publications in exact and natural sciences in Belarus, is a centre for depositary storage in the field of natural and exact sciences, a repository of monuments of the historical, cultural and intellectual heritage of Belarus, and a research centre in the field of book culture and bibliometrics.

During the excursion, the Master’s students of the University got acquainted with the history of the library, visited the museum of rare editions, the recreated study of the Belarusian playwright and linguist Petr Glebka, learned about the principles of working with the library’s internet resources, and also had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the unique atmosphere of a scientific laboratory of thought.
