University lecturers took part in the international seminar “Technological Trends and Their Role in the Development of Sports: Issues of Intellectual Property Rights Protection”
On the eve of World Intellectual Property Day, on April 23, 2026, the International Seminar “Technological Trends and Their Role in the Development of Sports: Issues of Intellectual Property Rights Protection” was held at the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Belarus.
The International Seminar was organised by the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus and the National Centre of Intellectual Property, with the support of the World Intellectual Property Organization, the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Sports of the Republic of Belarus, and the Belarusian State University of Physical Culture.
During the event, the following issues were examined: the specifics of exercising rights to intellectual property in the field of sports, the mechanism for the commercial use of such objects, rights protection in the context of sports event coverage, the specifics of copyright in sports, franchising issues, sponsorship agreements for the transfer of rights to use intellectual property from clubs to partners, and other issues related to intellectual property protection.
The Head of the Department of Biological and Economic Disciplines, Alexander Dashkevich, and the Senior Lecturer of the Department of Biological and Economic Disciplines, Ekaterina Kishkevich, took part in the work of the international seminar.
