The educational program of the postgraduate school is an educational program of science-oriented education aimed at training specialists who possess the skills of planning and independent conduct of scientific research, deep theoretical knowledge that allows them to prepare a qualifying scientific work (dissertation) for the degree of candidate of sciences and ensuring the qualification of “Researcher”.

The postgraduate educational program, which provides the qualification of “Researcher”, is implemented in full-time form (duration of study no more than three years), correspondence form (duration of study no more than four years) or in the application form (the duration of training is not more than five years). The competition as a form of training of highly qualified researchers, along with the development of the postgraduate educational program, also includes the preparation and passing of candidate examinations and tests in general education disciplines in cases where persons who do not have a master’s degree are trained (the term of education is not more than five years).

It is allowed to enroll persons for postgraduate studies in the form of job applications exclusively for passing candidate exams and tests in general education disciplines (the duration of study is not more than two years on a fee basis) in for the purpose of further postgraduate study in full-time or part-time education. In this case, at the end of the training period, the “Researcher” qualification is not assigned.

Postgraduate studies are carried out at the expense of the republican budget, organizations, individual entrepreneurs or other individuals, including the citizen’s own funds, on the basis of contracts for the training of a highly qualified researcher concluded in accordance with the legislation.

Postgraduate studies at the expense of the republican budget are carried out on the basis of a state order, at the request of organizations in need of highly qualified researchers.

The implementation of the postgraduate educational program at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus is currently carried out in 50 scientific organizations in 141 specialties.
